Master Plumber

Reports To:  Production Manager

Job Purpose: Lead the plumbing department through expert pre-construction planning, crew development, quality control, and licensing compliance to deliver flawless project execution for every Mosby client.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Construction Collaboration: Review upcoming jobs with our design team to ensure all plumbing scopes are accurately estimated, physically buildable, and structurally sound.
  • Permitting & Compliance: Pull all necessary plumbing permits. Ensure all remodeling work meets or exceeds local codes.
  • Crew Management: Directly supervise, schedule, and dispatch a team of plumbing technicians and apprentices across active residential remodeling sites.
  • Logistics & Inventory: Take full ownership of material ordering, vendor relations, and inventory tracking to ensure project sites are staged and ready before crews arrive.
  • Apprentice Training: Actively mentor and train apprentices. Provide hands-on guidance on-site to build their skills, tool proficiency, and code knowledge.
  • Quality Control: Conduct walk-throughs and inspections to maintain a high standard of craftsmanship
  • Own weekly KPI reporting — overhead hours, store trips, schedule changes, and rework
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients
  • Keep job sites safe and clean; adhere to all safety procedures

 Minimum Requirements:

  • Master Plumber License — active and in good standing; ability to pull permits in all jurisdictions where Mosby operates: St. Louis County & City, St. Charles Co, & Jefferson Co
  • 10 years of hands-on plumbing trade experience and 3 years of supervisory, foreman, or management role within residential plumbing/remodeling
  • Sound decision-making - resolves field issues and prioritizes competing demands with limited oversight
  • Ability to read drawings, identify scope, and flag conflicts before job start
  • Excellent communication skills — crew, Project Managers, homeowners, and leadership
  • Proficiency with basic technology tools — email, job management software, or willingness to learn
  • Valid Class E driver’s license and current auto insurance
  • Must supply own hand tools; specialty tools provided by Mosby
  • Ability to sit and work at a desk and on a computer for extended periods; field work requires standing, walking, kneeling, climbing ladders, and moving up to 75 lbs.
